Innovation is important to maintain business resilience in the midst of a pandemic, especially for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The same thing was stated by the Minister of Cooperatives and MSMEs, Teten Masduki and Sinar Mas Managing Director Saleh Husin in Sinar Mas' 82nd anniversary webinar series entitled 'MSME Innovations rise up during the pandemic’
MSMEs were the saviors during the monetary crisis, but it is not happening today due to the lack of purchasing power. "Production continues, but it is not well absorbed by the community," said Teten. However, the government has prepared a number of steps to increase purchasing power, one of which is by providing capital injections to MSMEs.
But there are also success stories during the pandemic as told by representatives of the members of the Desa Makmur Peduli Api (DMPA) program. Pak Supari and Ibu Rita shared how they kept production in the midst of a pandemic and were able to make profit. Kaesang Pangarep, the owner of Sang Pisang also shared his experiences starting a small-scale business until now his branches are spread throughout Indonesia.
