Sustainability Roadmap Vision
Launched in 2012, Sustainability Roadmap: Vision (SRV) 2020 have become our comprehensive strategy for sustainability. It sets out ten key impact areas relevant to our stakeholders across our business and wider supply chain, with ambitious targets for each. Furthermore, it sets out our approach to continue supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The 17 SDGs are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with a few strategies that can improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
While the vast majority of our targets in SRV 2020 have been achieved, with the recent developments, we realized that we need to expand the scope of our commitments to sustainability. With that in mind, we created the SRV 2030 through an extensive review from our internal team and external resource. Compared to SRV 2020, this evolution covers an increased range of issues and aligned well with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
Vision 2030 focuses on three main areas related to our industry which are productions, forest and people. The scope includes how our production will produce less carbon products where the materials are sourced from responsibly managed plantations as well as contributing to the welfare of the local communities. The sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been mapped to the Vision 2030 issues, and through that action, we can demonstrate our contribution to achieving the global goals in-line with international best practices. Over half a million hectares of natural forests conserved
Protecting and conserving the forests, peatlands and biodiversity which sustain our business.
Conserving the forestAs a business that relies on sustainable plantations, we are continuing research and improvement in sustainable forestry while protecting and restoring natural forests in and around our supplier concessions.
