After WHO named COVID-19 as a global pandemic, most countries applied a semi-lockdown to full lockdown policy to tackle the pandemic. Indonesia decided to apply large-scale social restrictions that affect the economy and also health care issues. To help the government fight COVID-19, companies and organizations are joined hands working together to provide medical equipment, including APP Sinar Mas.
APP Sinar Mas with Indonesia Chambers of commerce and Tzu Chi Foundation manage to gather more than US$ 30 million to help the Indonesia government tackle COVID-19. It will be used by Indonesia National Disaster Mitigation Agency to provide medical equipment such as masks and rapid test devices.
APP Sinar Mas China also working together with Inacham (Indonesia China Chamber of Commerce) to send 50 thousand N95 masks, 400 thousand surgical masks along with 1 million disinfectant tissue to Indonesia.
Not only in Indonesia, in Singapore, APP joined hands with Temasek Foundation to distribute hand sanitizers to all residential households in Singapore with more than 70 other corporates, unions, universities and community organizations. APP employees also volunteer to distribute 500ml of zero alcohol hand sanitizer free for at least 1,5 million households in the island.
