Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) held its 9th Stakeholder Advisory Forum on 15th July 2020 to share the progress of its Sustainability Roadmap to its stakeholders. This is the first online stakeholder advisory forum due to the pandemic. At the Forum, APP also revealed the updated goals for 2030, along with an updated Forest Monitoring Dashboard, which is now publicly available online.
While the vast majority of APP targets in SRV 2020 have been achieved, APP created the SRV 2030 through an extensive review from internal team and external resources. Vision 2030 focuses on three main areas related to the pulp and paper industry which are productions, forest and people.
The scope includes how APP production will produce less carbon products where the materials are sourced from responsibly managed plantations as well as contributing to the welfare of the local communities. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) also have been mapped to the Vision 2030 issues, and through that action, we can demonstrate our contribution to achieving the global goals in-line with international best practices.
Compared to SRV 2020, this evolution covers an increased range of issues and aligned well with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
While the Forest monitoring dashboard aims to assist interested parties to better track and understand the zero deforestation commitment including forest cover monitoring on protected conservation areas within its supply chain. These initiatives are just some examples of APP’s endeavour to be open and accountable.
