Jakarta, 20 December 2022 – Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas today released its 2022 CDP Score Report for the three categories it was assessed on, namely Climate Change, Forest (Timber) and Water Security. It retained its B score for Climate Change and attained a B score for Forest and a B- for Water Security.
CDP is a globally-respected and independent UK-based environmental disclosure not-for-profit organization that assesses companies on their environmental performance to advice on impact, risks and opportunities. Widely regarded as the gold standard for environmental reporting, CDP works with corporate and public entities around the world annually, and their reports are referenced by investors, companies and governments.
APP’s B score for Climate Change puts it in the Management band, higher than both the Asia regional and Wood & Paper materials sector average of C. Its B score for Forest (Timber) also puts it in the Management band and higher again than the Asia regional average of C, and the same as the Wood & Paper materials sector average of B. Its B score for Water Security also placed it in the Management band.
In sharing its latest CDP scorecard, APP’s Chief Sustainability Officer Elim Sritaba said, “APP values independent assessment of our various climate, environmental and sustainability efforts, such as the one conducted by CDP. We use it to benchmark ourselves against industry, regional & global best practices, and to help address gaps in our operations and finetune our efforts in the three categories assessed, as we continue on our journey to be a responsible and sustainable business. We cannot achieve this on our own and so I want to acknowledge the support of our employees, customers, the local communities and the government in helping us to get better.”
The CDP Score Report allows companies to understand their score and indicate which categories require attention to reach higher scoring levels. This enables companies to progress towards environmental stewardship through benchmarking and comparison with peers, in order to continuously improve climate, environmental & sustainability governance.
