APP Group introduces private label Eco-Bio beer cups at the Craft Brewers Conference & Brew Expo America

After the excitement of festivals, concerts, and sports events fades, attendees often experience a lingering sense of joy. However, these events also leave behind a significant amount of waste, particularly from single-use plastic beverage cups. To address the growing concern of plastic pollution, APP Group (APP) has introduced Foopak Bio Natura beer cups – a smart and stylish solution that allows festival-goers to enjoy their favourite drinks sustainably.

North America faces the challenging task of reducing plastic waste, given its status as one of the world's largest consumers of plastics. Large-scale events contribute significantly to the plastic pollution problem, especially due to the use of single-use plastic cups. To combat this, APP Group launched Foopak Bio Natura beer cups at the recent Craft Brewers Conference & BrewExpo America, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional plastic cups.

From April 21st to 24th, 2024, at The Venetian Convention & Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, APP and its exclusive U.S. & Latin America sales channel, Charta Global, partnered with Next Generation Packaging to launch new beer cups. The introduction of Foopak beer cups reflects a broader shift towards conscious consumerism and sustainable lifestyles, with these cups being added to a comprehensive range of Foopak Bio Natura eco-friendly packaging solutions.

Now, alcoholic beverages sold at large-scale events such as festivals or sports events can be served sustainably without contributing to excessive plastic waste from traditional single-use plastic beer cups. These new plastic-free beer cups are recyclable, compostable, and have been tested to handle drinks with up to 8% alcohol with no barrier breakdown. Perfect for both hot and cold drinks, these cups are also made from PEFC-certified fibre and are PFAS-free.

Aligned with the base paper used in other Foopak Bio Natura products, they utilise innovative, sustainable, and revolutionary aqua-dispersion technology, which replaces harmful petroleum and plant-based plastic coatings that are not sustainable for the environment or humans.

“I am thrilled about the partnership between APP Group and Next Generation Packaging in launching innovative sustainable beer cups with their Eco-Bio private label. This partnership not only reflects our continuous commitment to environmental stewardship but also addresses the pressing issue of plastic pollution in North America. Together, we are not just creating cups; we are crafting a sustainable future where responsible packaging choices lead the way towards a cleaner, healthier planet for generations to come,” said Ian Lifshitz, the Head of Sustainability and Public Affairs for the Americas at APP Group.

Aside from introducing the new beer cups to thousands of brewing industry professionals at the event, the full suite of Foopak Bio Natura eco-friendly packaging solutions was also showcased, fully catering to the demands for a variety of sustainable packaging.

Foopak Bio Natura and other products within the portfolio are available through Charta Global, APP’s exclusive North American sales channel. For more information, visit www.foopak.com
