Jakarta, August 9, 2024 – APP Group's business unit, PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk (IKPP) Tangerang Mill, has received the ProKlim Utama Trophy from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) for the Kademangan Village, Setu District, South Tangerang City. This award recognizes the company's success in supporting climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts at the local level.

The award was presented during the Festival LIKE 2 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). This year's festival, themed "10 Years of Work for Sustainability," highlights the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing climate change challenges in Indonesia. Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya, accompanied by KLHK Secretary General Bambang Hendroyono and Director General of PPI Laksmi Dewanthi, personally presented the award to the representative of Kademangan Village, Slamet Iyos, who is also the coordinator of the CSR activities.

In her speech, Minister Siti Nurbaya stated that the award is a form of appreciation for the community and institutions that have made significant contributions to climate change control. "Their contributions are crucial in supporting national climate targets, and I hope this can serve as an example for others to join in preserving the environment for a better future," said Siti.

Kademangan Village has demonstrated extraordinary commitment in implementing various environmental initiatives supporting the goals of the Climate Village Program (ProKlim). These initiatives include community empowerment through food security programs, urban farming, and SME development; health improvements through stunting prevention and integrated health post programs; waste management, and waste banks; as well as promoting clean and healthy living behaviors (PHBS) and capacity building in health and entrepreneurship.

APP Group's commitment through this award not only supports local community efforts in addressing climate change but also aligns with Indonesia's government targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing climate resilience. APP Group is committed to continuing collaboration with the government and local communities to support national policies aimed at achieving sustainable development across Indonesia.

"The ProKlim Utama Trophy for Kademangan Village is evidence of the strong dedication and synergy between the community, government, and companies in addressing climate change challenges. We continuously support initiatives that not only protect the environment but also enhance local community welfare," said APP Group Managing Director Suhendra Wiriadinata.

Furthermore, Suhendra added that this achievement aligns with APP Group’s sustainability vision, the Sustainability Roadmap Vision (SRV) 2023. This vision reaffirms the company's long-term commitment to balancing economic growth, environmental preservation, and social welfare across its operational areas. "We believe that by working together, we can achieve a greener and more sustainable future for the next generations," Suhendra added.

"We are very grateful for the support from PT IKPP Tangerang Mill, which has helped us realize various environmental programs in Kademangan Village. This award is the result of the hard work of the entire community, and we will continue to strive to maintain and improve our environmental quality for a better future," said Slamet Iyos, representative of Kademangan Village and coordinator of the ProKlim program in the area.
