29 June 2022, Jakarta - 9 Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas business units engaged in the pulp & paper industry (IPK), and forest management unit (UMH) were again appreciated for their commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by receiving the Anugerah Bisnis Indonesia Social Responsibility Award (BISRA) which was held at Hotel Le Meridien Jakarta.
The 9 business units include PT Pabrik Kertas Tjiwi Kimia Tbk, PT OKI Pulp & Paper Mills, PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk – Perawang Mills, PT Lontar Papyrus Pulp & Paper Industry, PT Arara Abadi, PT Wirakarya Sakti respectively each won a Gold Champion in CSR Program. PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk – Serang Mills, PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk – Tangerang Mills, PT Pindo Deli Pulp and Paper Mills – Karawang Mills, each won the Silver Champion in CSR Program.
“This award is a form of appreciation for APP Sinar Mas commitment which is carried out consistently and continuously. We believe that to be a company that continues to run its business in a sustainable manner, it must be able to provide benefits not only for those directly involved in the business, but also for the entire surrounding community and other aspects such as the environment," said APP Sinar Mas Chief Sustainability Officer, Elim Sritaba.
The awards received by APP Sinar Mas through its commitment to sustainability have become one of the focuses in running its business. APP Sinar Mas's sustainability strategy is comprehensively outlined in its Sustainability Roadmap Vision (SRV) 2030 which was launched in 2020. SRV aims to have a positive impact on stakeholders throughout APP Sinar Mas' business and supply chain, including the communities around its operational areas. Through SRV 2030, APP Sinar Mas further affirms its commitment to continue to support and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
For APP Sinar Mas unit engaged in forestry, the award was given for its commitment to community empowerment through the Desa Makmur Peduli Api (DMPA) program which was launched in 2015. The DMPA program involves the active participation of the community to increase income through diversity of livelihood sources, transfer knowledge and technology, develop collaboration, and create good forest management and preserve the environment. Until the end of 2021 there were 394 villages involving more than 31,676 Beneficiary Heads of Families (KK).
Meanwhile, the APP Sinar Mas unit engaged in the Pulp & Paper Industry (IPK), received awards for various CSR commitments, including community empowerment efforts by utilizing waste, empowering women, and preserving the environment.
“We hope that the programs that have been and are currently being implemented can benefit the community and the environment. We also continue to carry out various initiatives by opening up opportunities for collaboration with various parties to ensure the company is consistent in running a sustainable business, and together we create a better future,” concluded Elim.
