Tzu Chi APP HQ Thamrin Volunteer Community, in collaboration with Eka Hospital, held a compassionate visit to Sasana Tresna Werdha Karya Kasih Kwitang, Central Jakarta. This activity was held in order to celebrate Christmas 2024 and welcome the New Year 2025. This event aims to share happiness and new hope to the elderly at the retirement home.
Managing Director of APP Group and Trustee of Tzu Chi APP HQ Thamrin, Suhendra Wiriadinata, opened the visit by greeting the elderly. In his speech, he said, “This visit is not only a symbol of care, but also a reminder that the elderly here are never alone. The presence of the volunteers is a tangible manifestation of friendship and deep respect for the Elders who have become role models in facing life with resilience.”
The administrator of the nursing home, Mulany Dewi, also expressed her gratitude for this visit. “We, as the caretakers of the nursing home, would like to welcome you. We feel grateful and very happy for your extraordinary attention. The eldery here feel happy for your presence, because they feel that you represent the children and grandchildren of the eldery to give such sincere attention.”
The event continued with various entertaining and fun activities, including musical performances, dances, and the distribution of meaningful gifts for the elderly. Not only that, Tzu Chi APP HQ Thamrin and Eka Hospital also provided aid packages in the form of necessities, personal care, medicines, and vitamins. This assistance is expected to fulfill the daily needs of the Oma-Oma and support their health.
The volunteers also interacted directly with the elderly, listening to their stories and life experiences, while providing moral and emotional support.
Closing the event, Suhendra Wiriadinata said, “May this Christmas bring peace and happiness to all eldery, and the New Year 2025 be a beautiful beginning full of blessings. All those present are invited to continue spreading love and kindness, so that the world around us becomes more beautiful for everyone.”
The love visit was closed with a prayer together and a commemorative photo session. The eldery’s faces looked happy and touched by the attention and love given by the volunteers.
