1. Prevention of Stunting: Support from PT Lontar Papyrus Pulp & Paper Industry to Posyandu Akasia
PT Lontar Papyrus Pulp & Paper Industry (LPPPI) has demonstrated its commitment to community welfare through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program focused on health and nutrition. One of the latest initiatives by PT LPPPI is providing support in the form of supplementary food, stunting prevention equipment, and health check-ups at Posyandu Akasia. This program aims to help reduce stunting rates in the areas around the company's operations and ensure that children receive adequate nutrition for optimal growth and development. In addition to providing supplementary food, PT LPPPI also supplies various stunting prevention equipment such as height measurement tools, scales, and vitamins. With these check-ups, it is hoped that health issues experienced by children can be detected as early as possible, allowing for quicker and more effective treatment.
This CSR program is part of PT LPPPI's efforts to create synergy between the company and the surrounding community. 2. Encouraging Housewives' Independence to Become Entrepreneurs, PT IKPP – Perawang Mill Holds Sewing Training
On February 5, 2025, ten housewives from various villages in Tualang District, Siak Regency, Riau, participated in sewing training organized by the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of PT Indah Kiat Pulp and Paper (IKPP) – Perawang Mill. This training aims to increase the economic independence of housewives by developing their sewing skills into entrepreneurship. The training, held at the residence of sewing instructor Erna in Perawang Village, is a form of PT IKPP – Perawang Mill's concern for the community around the company's operational area. Hasanuddin The, the head of PT IKPP – Perawang Mill, through the CSR coordinator of PT IKPP – Perawang Mill, Murseno S.AP, stated that this training is expected to improve the community's economy by training participants to become proficient in sewing.
One of the participants, Suci from Pinang Sebatang Village, expressed her gratitude to CSR PT IKPP – Perawang Mill for the opportunity given. She felt that this training greatly helped housewives in increasing their family income. Over the next three months, participants will be taught various sewing skills by Erna, from basic patterns to sewing clothes for women, men, and children. Murseno hopes that the participants can become successful entrepreneurs after completing this training.
