1. Drinking Water Depots Help Improve the Economy of Local Residents in East Kalimantan
Through the Desa Makmur Peduli Api (DMPA) program, PT Surya Hutani Jaya, one of the supplier partners of Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas, donated a set of water depot machine, which will be managed by BumDes for the people of Manamang Kiri Village, East Kalimantan. Through refill water depots, community can now enjoy clean water for their daily needs at affordable prices, range between Rp. 3,000 – Rp. 5,000 per gallon. The objective is to increase relationship within the community surrounding the concession, also to reduce environmental damage and preventing forest and land fires (Karhutla). Currently, the production of water refill machines in Manamang Kiri Village reaches 1,600 gallons per month.
2. PT IKPP Tangerang Helps New Business Opportunities Through Crab Cultivation
PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk (PT IKPP) – Tangerang Mill continuing its support during the pandemic for fish farmers by creating new business opportunities through cultivation of crabs. The distribution of hundreds of ready-to-egg crabs at the Mapan Ketapang Gate, Mauk, Tangerang district received by the local government aims to maintain the preservation of the coastal ecosystem in North Coast of Tangerang. Head of Sustainability PT IKPP Tangerang, Kholisul Fatikhin explained that this new business opportunity can improve the community's economy in the midst of the current pandemic.
3. Against COVID-19, PT LPPPI Is Ready to Execute Commitments
Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas through PT Lontar Papyrus Pulp & Paper Industry (PT LPPPI) – Jambi Mill has conducted vaccination program to 1,200 employees or about 80% of the total employees in Tebing Tinggi District, Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency, Jambi Province, Riau attended by the Regent of Tanjung Jabung Barat, Anwar Sadat. This vaccination program aims to achieve herd immunity. PT LPPPI partnership with various parties including the government and local police to carry out regular health protocols and sanitation activities.
Along with the vaccination program, PT LPPPI has also consistently provided liquid oxygen to Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency Government in collaboration with the Regency Government, the Police and the Tanjabbar Military in an effort to accelerate the recovery of COVID-19 patients. Around ±7 tons of oxygen were distributed to COVID-19 appointed health institutions including hospitals and Community Health Center of West Tanjung Jabung Regency and its surrounding areas.
4. Initiation of Continuous Oxygen Assistance
PT Wirakarya Sakti (WKS) as a subsidiary of Sinar Mas Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) sent out 18 tons of liquid oxygen on behalf of PT Smart Tbk which was received by the Jambi Regional Police to fulfil the hospital needs. The COVID-19 prevention initiation is in a form of collaboration between Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food business units in Jambi and PT Lontar Papyrus Pulp & Paper Industry to supply liquid oxygen for the Jambi Provincial Government.
