Jakarta, July 22, 2024 - From January to July this year, APP Group organized various activities on campuses across Indonesia. The initiative aims to introduce the pulp and paper industry, support education, and increase understanding of sustainability and disaster mitigation against forest and land fires. The activities were attended by approximately 10,000 students from various campuses in Indonesia.
APP Group collaborated with leading universities such as University of Indonesia (UI), State University of Malang (UMM), Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), Airlangga University, Jambi University, Muhammadiyah Riau University, Gadjah Mada University, Bandung Institute of Technology, Malang State University, Semarang State University (UNNES), Sriwijaya University, North Sumatra University, Soegijapranata Catholic University, Atma Jaya Catholic University, Widya Mandala Catholic University, Telkom University, Parahyangan University, Ma Chung University and Stiper Agricultural Institute. This collaboration resulted in seminars, workshops, as well as internship programs, campus hiring and job fairs, joint research that contributed significantly to the development of human resources in Indonesia.

In various seminars and workshops, students are introduced to the latest technology and environmentally friendly production processes, giving them an insight into good industry practices.
Disaster Mitigation
In addition to focusing on education, APP Group also plays an active role in disaster mitigation. Training and socialization programs on forest fire prevention both in the company environment and in the surrounding community. Simulations are conducted on various campuses guided by APP's disaster mitigation experts, especially on forest and land fires.
“Our disaster mitigation program is part of our commitment to sustainability. We want to ensure that people, including the academic community, have the necessary knowledge and skills to deal with disasters. Handling forest and land fires is our shared responsibility. This activity aims to increase knowledge and awareness in forest and land fire management,” Suhendra added.
Jambi University Rector Prof. Dr. Helmi, S.H., M.H welcomed the forest fire management training. “Jambi's success in tackling forest fires should be an example for other regions, and through this training, we hope to share knowledge and best practices for students in forest fire management,” said Helmi.
In addition to the industry introduction, APP Group also collaborates with various leading universities to carry out the college alumni recruitment program. Suhendra emphasized that young talent is the key to the future of the industry, and stressed the importance of collaboration between industry and education.
“We support the government's vision in improving the quality of human resources in Indonesia. Through this collaboration, we hope to provide opportunities for the best graduates to actively contribute to industry and national development,” Suhendra explained.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the Education and Professional Development Institute of Semarang State University, Mohamad Ikhwan Rosyidi, emphasized how important it is for students to have a plan for their future career. “Students need to know the passion of each of them and in which direction they want to develop their careers. The event held by APP today is a very good session for students to realize how important it is to have career planning in the future.

Throughout the year, APP Group has organized more than 20 events on various campuses, involving thousands of students and lecturers. Some of the highlights include seminars on sustainability and the environment, workshops on the latest technologies in the pulp and paper industry, and internship programs that provide opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in the industry.
