Supporting Government to Increase Export Competitiveness of SVLK+ Products, APP Group Strengthens Sustainability Commitment in Global Market

Jakarta, December 17, 2024 - APP Group supported the SVLK+ Certified Forest Products Export Release event held by the Ministry of Forestry. The event took place offline at Manggala Wanabakti with online participation from participating companies. This step was taken by the government to ensure that Indonesian forestry products meet global sustainability standards, increase competitiveness in the international market, and encourage legal and transparent forest management through the Timber Legality Verification System (SVLK+).

The Minister of Forestry, in a speech delivered by the Director General of Sustainable Forest Management, Dida Migfar Ridha, said, “With the launch of SVLK+, we ensure that every exported forest product has certainty of origin of raw materials that can be accurately traced. The spatial-based technology in this system increases transparency, guarantees product legality, and ensures sustainable and deforestation-free forest management.”

Dida added that to date, the export value of forestry industry products in 2024 has reached USD 11.896 billion, and is expected to exceed the previous year's achievement. This shows the significant contribution of the forestry sector in supporting the national economy amid the increasingly tight global market challenges.

In an online export release ceremony, PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk Tangerang Mill (IKPP Tangerang), a business unit of APP Group, symbolically exported Colour Photocopy Paper products weighing 15.68 metric tons. This product has met international sustainability standards through SVLK+ certification.

“We support the Government's efforts to improve the export competitiveness of Indonesia's forestry products. APP Group's participation in this event reflects our commitment to transparency, environmental responsibility and sustainability integrated throughout our supply chain,” said APP Group Managing Director Suhendra Wiriadinata.

As part of its efforts to maintain transparency and accountability, APP Group has developed a Product Tracing application designed by the company's internal Sustainability and IT teams. The application allows customers to track products in detail using the Delivery Note (DN) number, including information on production date, production line, pulp and wood origin, and geographical coordinates of raw material sources. This ensures that raw materials come from plantation forests and not from deforestation.

The development of this application is also supported by GIS (Geographic Information System) technology to distinguish industrial and natural forests, and support sustainable raw material planning and monitoring.

The system is designed to comply with SVLK+ regulations based on the Director General of Sustainable Forest Management Circular Letter No. 4 of 2024, which stipulates the improvement of raw material traceability information for forestry products. The implementation has been used by APP Group's customers in Europe and Asia, providing additional confidence in APP Group's products in the global market.

APP Group continues to support the Government in promoting sustainable forestry products that can compete in the global market, encouraging transparency through the release of SVLK+ certified product exports. With SVLK+ certification, APP Group ensures that all exported products, including from PT IKPP Tangerang, come from legal raw materials and are sustainably managed.

“We believe that sustainability is an integral part of our business strategy. This initiative not only strengthens Indonesia's position in the international market, but also has a positive impact on the environment and society at large,” Suhendra Wiriadinata concluded.
