Commitment to Environmental Standards, IKPP Perawang Wins Adi Niti Award 2024

Jakarta, September 10, 2024 – The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) successfully held the 2024 Environmental and Forestry Standards Week (PeSTA), an event aimed at promoting environmental standards and sustainable practices. The event, which took place at the Manggala Wanabakti Auditorium in Jakarta from September 10-12, 2024, brought together various parties, including government, public institutions, and the private sector, in a joint effort to ensure the sustainability of natural resources.

With the theme "LHK Standardization Safeguarding Natural Resource Sustainability," PeSTA 2024 served as a platform for businesses to showcase their contributions in supporting the implementation of improved environmental standards. One of the key moments of the event was the presentation of the "Adi Niti" award, given to institutions or individuals who have shown a strong commitment to supporting KLHK’s work through the standardization of environmental and forestry instruments.

In her remarks, Minister of Environment and Forestry Prof. Siti Nurbaya stated that PeSTA 2024 marks a historic moment in the journey of the Instrument Standardization Agency (BSI), which has evolved from a research and innovation agency and has shown remarkable progress over the past three years. BSI plays a crucial role in setting standards and ensuring their implementation, as well as monitoring and overseeing them in the field. This is part of a broader LHK standardization achievement, especially as the world becomes increasingly aware of environmental issues.

During the event, PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk (IKPP) Perawang, a business unit of APP Group, received the Adi Niti award in the Ecolabel category. This award recognizes IKPP Perawang's compliance with KLHK’s ecolabel standards, which include the use of sustainable raw materials, environmentally friendly production processes, and final products that meet environmental criteria. By adhering to these strict standards, IKPP Perawang not only fulfills KLHK’s requirements and regulations but also demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and responsible environmental management.

In addition to winning the Adi Niti award, APP Group also supported the event by showcasing products that meet ecolabel standards, such as paper, tissue, and eco-friendly packaging "Foopak." These products are produced in compliance with stringent environmental standards, ensuring minimal impact on nature, while also supporting local economic growth through the involvement of SMEs and local communities.

“This award is a recognition of our efforts to continuously comply with and support KLHK's strict environmental standards. We are committed to further innovation and strengthening collaboration with the government and society in preserving the environment,” said APP Group Managing Director, Suhendra Wiriadinata.

APP Group’s participation in PeSTA 2024 reaffirms the company’s dedication to sustainability and support for the government’s efforts to raise awareness of the importance of environmental standardization across various industrial sectors.
