APP Sinar Mas won the Sustainable Business Award (SBA) for the Special Recognition Water Management and Best Stakeholder Engagement & Materiality categories in Jakarta.
The award, which was presented by the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Bambang Brodjonegoro, affirms the company’s achievements in meeting sustainable business practices through sustainable management of water resources.
This award is one of the Sustainability Roadmap Vision 2020 targets, which is based on improving the economy whilst continuing to prioritize sustainable business practices.
APP Sinar Mas received the SBA award in the Best Energy Management category in 2017, and it received a Special Recognition for Strategy and Sustainability Management in 2016. Additionally, two of its industrial units, PT Pindo Deli Pulp & Paper Mills and PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk, won SBA awards in the Water Management and Pulp & Paper categories respectively.
The SBA award is a collaboration between PwC Indonesia, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and IBCSD (Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development). Its goal is to increase awareness regarding sustainable businesses.
During its selection process, all submitted data is validated by the Indonesian PwC team. SBA itself has an advisory panel comprised of leading sustainability experts in Indonesia.
