Supporting the government's efforts to prevent and control forest and land fires in 2021, Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas together with its partners in South Sumatra Province develop Desa Makmur Peduli Api (DMPA) program. This year APP Sinar Mas prepare 700 fire fighters along with 42 Rapid Reaction Teams deployed in Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) and Musi Banyuasin (Muba) districts, they were also equipped with various fire equipments.
APP Sinar Mas has also prepared six helicopters for water bombing, these helicopters will help to extinguish fire in South Sumatra, Jambi and Riau.
In the 2021 Forest and Land Fire Control Preparedness Meeting held by the South Sumatra Provincial Government at the Sriwijaya Botanical Garden in Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra on Tuesday (9/3), the South Sumatra governor, Herman Deru said all stakeholders must involves tackling forest and land fires.
Desa Makmur Peduli Api (DMPA) program also help to prevent forest and land fires which involved 36 villages in Ogan Komering Ilir OKI district, and 31 villages in Musi Banyuasin. These programs have benefited 3,300 households.
In Riau, PT Arara Abadi also alerted 810 firefighter and 22 personnel from the rapid response team followed by 40 cars, 118 motorbikes and other supporting equipment.
During the Forest and Land Fire Control Preparedness Meeting in Riau (16/3), Riau Governor, Syamsuar meet with Herman, Agus and Barus, the DPMA farmers assisted by PT Arara Abadi. Currently the DMPA program in Riau involved 179 villages, with more than 9,000 families.
