Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla, together with Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita, presented the Primaniyarta Award 2019 to Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper and Pabrik Kertas Tjiwi Kimia at the Indonesia Trade Expo this year. The former won the award for Extraordinary Exporters category, while the latter for Global Brand Creator category.
The event was held by Directorate General for National Export Development (DITJEN PEN) Indonesia Trade Ministry at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition, BSD City, Tangerang, Banten.
Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper President Commissioner Saleh Husin and Pabrik Kertas Tjiwi Kimia President Director Suhendra Wiriadinata received the award directly from Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
This is the seventh time APP Sinar Mas’s subsidiaries have won in the Performing Exporters and the Global Brand Builder categories, acquiring in total 15 awards. Previously, the company won the award in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2015. Today, APP Sinar Mas exports its products to more than 150 countries.
According to a report by the Observatory of Economic Complexity, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Indonesia records US$7.35 billion in the export of pulp and paper products annually, and ranks as the world’s tenth largest paper producer based on a report by World Atlas.
“We believe paper holds the solution to many of the problems that we will face in the future. Its use has continued to evolve, and it is now a material with the most potential to replace plastic. For over 40 years, APP Sinar Mas continues to innovate to offer paper, pulp, and packaging products that meet the needs of a changing world,” said APP Sinar Mas Director Suhendra Wiriadinata.
Suhendra added that it was an honor for the company to win the award, as it reflects the company’s efforts in delivering high quality products that are warmly welcomed by the international market.
The Primaniyarta Award is the highest achievement from the government to exporters with outstanding performance. First held in 1992, the award is aimed at encouraging businesses to boost their export.
In addition to acknowledging the most outstanding exporters, the award also encourages other exporters to keep increasing the value and the volume of non-oil and gas exports from Indonesia. The award identifies role models for other exporters, so that Indonesia can continue to see strong, skilled, and highly competitive exporters across sectors.
