APP Group Sees Improvement in 2023 CDP Scores, Reinforcing Commitment to Sustainable Future

Jakarta, 22 February 2024 – APP Group proudly announced today a significant improvement in its 2023 CDP scores, further marking its unwavering commitment to implementing a socially responsible business approach. 

CDP is a globally respected and independent UK-based environmental disclosure not-for-profit organization that assesses companies on their environmental performance to advise on impact, risks, and opportunities. With over 23,000 companies disclosing their environmental data through the CDP, it has become widely regarded as the gold standard for environmental reporting.  

In the Climate Change category, APP achieved an ‘A-’ score, surpassing the Asia regional and Wood & Paper materials sector average score of ‘C’.

This elevation to the Leadership band marks a significant improvement from its previous ‘B’ score in 2022. Within the category benchmarks for Climate Change, APP scored 'A' for Emissions reduction initiatives and low carbon products exceeding the industry's average score of 'C'. In terms of risk management processes, APP scored 'A' exceeding the industry average score of 'B'. 

In the Forest - Timber category, APP achieved an ‘A-’ score, up from a ‘B’ score in 2022. This accomplishment not only exceeds the regional and sector average score of ‘C’, but also showcases APP's commitment to sustainability.  

Within the category benchmarks for Forest - Timber, APP scored 'A' for Traceability exceeding the industry's average score of 'B'. In terms of Policy and commitments, APP scored 'A-' exceeding the industry average score of 'C'.

In the Water Security category, the APP Group maintained a strong ‘B’ score, outperforming the regional and sector benchmarks of a ‘C’ score.

Within the category benchmarks for Water Security, APP scored 'A-' for Water accounting exceeding the industry's average score of 'C'. In terms of Business impacts, APP scored 'A' exceeding the industry average score of 'B'. 

CDP's scoring system is designed to incentivize companies to disclose and reduce their environmental impacts and covers four assessment categories: Disclosure, Awareness,  Management, and Leadership. This approach steers companies toward comprehensive environmental stewardship. 

This significant improvement in APP's CDP scores for 2023 not only sets a new trajectory for the company's future initiatives but also represents a substantial milestone and a source of motivation in APP’s sustainability journey.
