Jakarta, 27 June 2024- 14 APP Group business units from the Pulp & Paper Industry (IPK) and Forest Management Unit (UMH) have once again received appreciation for their commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The awards were presented at the Bisnis Indonesia Social Responsibility Award (BISRA) held at Raffles Hotel Jakarta.
At BISRA 2024, 10 APP Group business units received awards for their contributions in CSR. The Platinum Mill Award went to PT Pabrik Kertas Tjiwi Kimia Tbk, PT Lontar Papyrus Pulp & Paper Industri, and PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk - Serang Mill. The Gold Mill award was given to PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk - Tangerang, PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk - Perawang, and PT OKI Pulp & Paper Mill - OKI. The winners in the Gold Forestry category were PT Arara Abadi, PT Wira Karya Sakti, and PT Sumalindo Hutani Jaya PT Satria Perkasa Agung. Meanwhile, 4 supply partner companies, namely PT Mutiara Sabuk Khatulistiwa, PT Bumi Persada Permai, PT Perawang Sukses Perkasa Industri, and PT Surya Hutani Jaya, also won the Gold Forestry category.
"This award is a form of recognition for our consistent and sustainable commitment. To run a sustainable business, we must ensure that the benefits are not only felt by the company, but also by the surrounding community and the environment," said APP Group Managing Director, Suhendra Wiriadinata.
This award reflects APP Group's commitment to sustainability, which is one of the main pillars in running the business. APP Group's sustainability strategy is outlined in its Sustainability Roadmap Vision (SRV) 2030, launched in 2020. The SRV aims to have a positive impact on all stakeholders throughout APP Group's supply chain, including the communities surrounding its areas of operation. Through SRV 2030, APP Group reaffirms its commitment to support and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
For APP Group's forestry unit, the award was given for its commitment to community empowerment through the Desa Makmur Peduli Api (DMPA) program launched in 2015. The DMPA program involves active community participation to increase income through various livelihood sources, transfer knowledge and technology, develop collaboration, and create good forest management and environmental preservation. By the end of 2023, 441 villages involved with more than 87,500 beneficiaries.
APP Group units in the Pulp & Paper Industry (IPK) were recognized for their various CSR commitments, including community empowerment through waste utilization, women's empowerment, and environmental conservation.
