Jakarta, October 3, 2024 - In an effort to support the development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, APP Group participated at Tjipta UMKM Fair 2024, an event participated by all Sinar Mas business pillars. The event was a platform for hundreds of MSMEs supported by various sectors of Sinar Mas' business pillars to promote their top products, while strengthening their market network through digital marketing training and sustainable business development.
Sinar Mas Board Member Franky O. Widjaja, explained the importance of this event to elevate the class of local MSMEs. “Since we launched with President Jokowi for MSMEs to upgrade, we want Sinar Mas' mentors, including Tjipta UMKM, to also be able to upgrade. Our assistance focuses on product quality, including packaging, as well as marketing. If these two things are fulfilled, MSME turnover will increase. Discipline in terms of quality and marketing is what we continue to emphasize,” he said.
Vice Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Tanoesoedibjo who was also present also expressed her appreciation. “Of course, I really appreciate it, this is the 6th time the UMKM event has been held under the guidance of Sinar Mas. The products are very good, and the coaching provided by Sinar Mas is very useful, so that they can be competitive and economically independent,” she said.
APP Group not only contributes through participation in this event, but also through various community empowerment programs that have been ongoing for years. One of its flagship programs is Desa Makmur Peduli Alam (DMPA), which was launched in 2015. The program aims to improve community welfare through active participation in environmental conservation, good forest management, and the development of alternative livelihoods. By the end of 2023, 441 villages have been involved in the program with more than 87,500 beneficiaries.
In addition, APP Group through its mill CSR programs has empowered more than 150 MSMEs in various sectors such as horticulture, food processing industry, and handicrafts. These programs not only create employment opportunities for communities around the mills, but also help these MSMEs grow through training and support for wider market access. APP Group is committed to continue driving local economic growth and strengthening sustainability initiatives in various business sectors.
APP Group Managing Director Suhendra Wiriadinata also emphasized the company's commitment to MSME empowerment. “We at APP Group believe that MSMEs have an important role in driving the national economy. Through events like this Tjipta UMKM Fair, we hope to help MSMEs not only improve the quality of their products but also expand market access, both locally and internationally.”
Through these initiatives, APP Group hopes that its involvement in Tjipta UMKM Fair 2024 can strengthen the position of MSMEs as drivers of the local economy and ensure broader business sustainability in Indonesia.
