PT Arara Abadi, one of APP Group's business units, held an APP Goes to Campus event by visiting Lancang Kuning University (Unilak) Pekanbaru on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024.
The event was held in the framework of Unilak's Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) activities as well as strengthening the relationship between the industrial world and universities, as well as providing students with a better understanding of sustainability practices in the pulp and paper and forestry industries.
Rector of Unilak Professor Junaidi when met said that as many as 2,400 new students who are also part of Gen Z were accepted this year.
“In this PKKMB we introduce how campus life is and how they can graduate on time,” he said.
In this activity, tree seedlings were also planted as a form of commitment to the green program at Unilak.
“We are also committed to zero plastic bottles and introducing a green campus, with cultural diversity and a friendly campus. Thank you PT Arara Abadi and other parties who support this activity,” he said.

In the same place, Director of PT Arara Abadi, Edi Haris stated that this event was a tangible manifestation of collaboration between the industrial and academic worlds in building sustainability awareness among students.
“Activities like this are very important because they provide opportunities for students to learn directly from the industrial world about sustainability and the importance of environmental responsibility,” said Edi.
During this visit, PT Arara Abadi organized various interesting activities, including a talk show that discussed the role of the business world in protecting the environment and improving the community's economy through the Desa Makmur Peduli Alam (DMPA) program.
“We want to share our experience and knowledge about the benefits of the DMPA program that has succeeded in improving the welfare of the community while preserving the environment. This program has a real positive impact, and we hope that students can be inspired to get involved in sustainability activities in the future,” said Edi Haris.
In addition to the talk show, PT Arara Abadi also held a fire fighting simulation as part of education regarding the importance of disaster preparedness, especially in the forestry sector.
This activity aims to provide students with understanding and practical experience on how to deal with and overcome forest fires.
This visit is expected to provide inspiration and new insights to students about the importance of protecting the environment and the contribution of the industrial world in creating sustainability.
