The 51st Anniversary event at Tjiwi Kimia began with the inauguration of a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) on the factory's roof. This is part of Tjiwi Kimia's sustainability efforts as a part of APP Sinar Mas and to support the Indonesian government. In collaboration with SUN Energy, the roof-mounted PLTS was inaugurated by the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa.
"What Tjiwi Kimia has done serves as a reference, not only for companies in East Java but also in Indonesia," stated Khofifah.
Solar panels were installed on the roofs of 11 buildings within the Tjiwi Kimia area. With an area of approximately 11.4 hectares and a capacity of 9.8 MWp, these solar panels are expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 12,400 tons of CO2e per year.
"With the installation of PLTS, we have entered a new era where renewable energy becomes an integral part of our operations," said Suhendra Wiriadinata, Director of APP Sinar Mas.
