Implementation of a 3.7 MWp Solar Power Plant, PT Pindo Deli Karawang Drives Sustainable Industrial Practices

Karawang, November 22, 2024 – PT Pindo Deli Pulp and Paper Mills (Pindo Deli) Karawang, a subsidiary of APP Group, has officially launched the operation of a 3.7 MWp Solar Power Plant (PLTS). This initiative is a tangible step by Pindo Deli to support carbon emission reduction, enhance energy efficiency, and promote a greener industry.

This effort embodies the company’s commitment to its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) program and aligns with APP Group’s Sustainability Roadmap Vision (SRV) 2030, which prioritizes reducing carbon footprints, utilizing renewable energy, and fostering sustainable business practices, all in line with the government’s vision of achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2050.

The solar power system at PT Pindo Deli Karawang is projected to independently produce up to 5.33 million kWh of clean energy annually, equivalent to a reduction of approximately 4,146 tons of CO2 emissions or the environmental benefit of planting nearly 68,840 trees each year.

“The transition to solar energy is one of Pindo Deli’s initiatives to adopt the Clean Manufacturing Program across its production lines for paper, tissue, and packaging products. The operation of this solar power plant reflects our commitment to utilizing renewable energy and supporting national decarbonization targets. This initiative is part of our effort to create more eco-friendly operations and promote the overall sustainability of the industry,” said Hendri Gunawan, President Director of PT Pindo Deli Pulp and Paper Mills.

Collaboration with SUN Energy has enabled the optimization of renewable energy potential at PT Pindo Deli Karawang. This project aims not only to reduce carbon emissions but also to drive a transformation toward a more environmentally friendly industry.

A representative from the Karawang Regency Government, Agus Mustakim, also expressed appreciation for this initiative. “Through the installation of this solar power plant, PT Pindo Deli Karawang contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which is also a government priority in supporting environmental sustainability. We hope this step inspires other industries, particularly major ones in Karawang.”
