Focus on Collaboration, Innovation, and Action at UN Climate Week 2024

At UN Climate Week 2024, APP Group participated in key discussions with global leaders, innovators, and industry stakeholders. The event, which included the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Leaders Summit, highlighted the pressing need for action on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with APP's Chief Sustainability Officer, Elim Sritaba, actively contributing to the dialogue.

A significant moment came during the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit, where Sanda Ojiambo, CEO of the UN Global Compact, emphasized the power of private capital in driving sustainable finance. In alignment with this, Elim reiterated APP’s belief that the private sector plays a crucial role in turning sustainability goals into impactful realities.

This year, technology took centre stage as a key driver of change, particularly Generative AI (Gen AI), with 97% of global executives forecasting its transformative impact across industries. APP recognizes this potential and is exploring ways to leverage Gen AI for sustainable supply chain innovations and improving operational efficiency.

Elim also joined other sustainability leaders in the UN General Assembly CEO Circle, where she participated in conversations on Corporate Water Stewardship and Scaling Regenerative Agriculture. The dialogues underscored real-world applications of sustainability practices.

UN Climate Week concluded with the announcement of the 2024 SDG Pioneers—business professionals recognized for advancing the SDGs through innovation. Their achievements serve as a reminder that APP’s sustainability efforts are part of a larger global movement, where businesses are key drivers in creating lasting change.
