1. Empowering Women's Productivity in Company Operations, PT IKPP – Perawang Mill Provides Sewing Training
PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper (PT IKPP) - Perawang Mill organized sewing training for housewives within the company's operational area. Ten participants underwent a 3-month training covering sewing techniques, operating sewing machines, fabric types, clothing pattern making, and basic sewing techniques. The aim is to enhance the skills of women around the company's operations and improve their economic conditions.
2. PT Pindo Deli Pulp and Paper Mills – Perawang Mill Conducts Fish Feed-Making Training
PT Pindo Deli Pulp and Paper Mills – Perawang Mill implemented a fish feed-making training program for the "Kelompok Armina" Freshwater Fish Cultivation Group in Alam Raya Perawang Barat, Tualang District, Siak Regency, Riau. Thirteen participants learned how to make affordable alternative fish feeds, reduce reliance on expensive commercial feeds, and enhance fish cultivators' harvest yields.
3. PT IKPP – Tangerang Mill Plants Kiray Trees along the Cisadane River Bank
PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper (IKPP) – Tangerang Mill planted Kiray trees along the banks of the Cisadane River as part of their concern for the environment and river ecosystems. Kiray trees have various benefits, including maintaining and improving water quality while generating water. The IKPP employee-involved activity not only included tree planting but also involved trash cleaning and environmental preservation education. Previously, PT IKPP – Tangerang Mill also planted mangroves and bamboo in several locations, especially along the Cisadane River, considered a lifeline for the Tangerang community.
4. The Inspiring Stories of KWT Mekar Wangi and KWT Goodfarm, CSR Groups under the APP Group's Mentorship
CSR groups affiliated with Desa Makmur Peduli Api (DMPA) PT Wirakarya Sakti, KWT Mekar Wangi, and CSR groups under PT IKPP, KWT Goodfarm, shared inspiring stories about female environmental activists and their success in improving the local community's economy. This was presented at the Indonesia Berbagi webinar organized by the Environmental Science School of the University of Indonesia (UI).
KWT Mekar Wangi from Dataran Kempas Village, Tanjung Jabung Barat, Jambi, utilized backyard areas for cultivating red ginger as part of empowering the community to prevent forest and land fires. Formed in 2017, they now achieve a monthly revenue of IDR 42 million.
Meanwhile, KWT Goodfarm from Banten, initially operating self-sufficiently, joined PT IKPP's CSR program in 2022. They developed hydroponic techniques for farming, receiving training on cultivation, processing, and marketing. Their products include fresh horticultural products and various processed foods and beverages. Their revenue has increased from IDR 500,000 to IDR 5 million per month.
Both groups utilized digital platforms to share learning experiences with other groups across Indonesia and expand their marketing networks.
5. Collaboration of PT Arara Abadi, PT PSPI, and BRIN in Local Inland Fisheries Training
PT Arara Abadi and PT Perawang Sukses Perkasa Industri (PSPI) held an Integrated Local Inland Fisheries Training focused on Baung Fish (Mystus nemurus) cultivation. This collaboration involved the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Kampar District Fisheries Agency, Desa Makmur Peduli Api (DMPA), and the University of Islamic Riau (UIR). Participants from villages around the company's concession attended the training to learn about local inland fish cultivation. The aim is to enhance participants' knowledge and skills, particularly in Baung fish cultivation, which holds high economic value, thereby improving village economies and creating new job opportunities.
