Sinar Mas has navigated a winding journey, overseeing various business pillars in various industrial sectors, grounded in innovation and adaptation to the changing times. It all began in 1938 in Makassar, South Sulawesi. Sinar Mas remains deeply rooted in the life philosophy of its founder, Mr. Eka Tjipta Widjaja, now known as the Noble Values of Sinar Mas.
In celebration of Sinar Mas' 85th anniversary, the hashtag #MajuBersama represents Sinar Mas' spirit of growing together with the community and the nation through collaboration and mutual support.
Installation of the 85th Anniversary Sinar Mas Booth
The series of events marking the 85th anniversary of Sinar Mas began with an installation booth at the Sinar Mas Land Plaza Lobby in Thamrin from October 2 to October 6, 2023. This booth was centered around three major themes: Upgrading MSMEs, Renewable Energy, and Digital Transformation. The booth featured various exciting games with prizes. Visitors could also test their knowledge about Sinar Mas on the available touch screen and instantly see their live score.
Celebrating the 85th Anniversary of Sinar Mas – "Together We Go Far, Fast, and Beyond"
On October 3, 2023, the grand ceremony celebrating Sinar Mas' 85th anniversary, titled "Together We Go Far, Fast, and Beyond," was attended by Sinar Mas Board Members, Sinar Mas Advisors, representatives from business sectors, and the entire extended Sinar Mas family. The event was held in a hybrid format, with the proceedings broadcast live on Sinar Mas' official YouTube account and Zoom.
During this occasion, Sinar Mas Board Member Franky Widjaja emphasized the importance of adopting Sinar Mas' Noble Values as the foundation for the company. "Noble Values are our navigator for sustainability," he concluded.
Jam-Session Adds Vibrancy to the 85th Anniversary of Sinar Mas
To add even more excitement to the pinnacle of the 85th-anniversary celebrations, a jam session was held, featuring performances by two bands: "APP Symphony" from APP Sinar Mas and "Musikin Smartfen" from Smartfren. These two bands performed popular songs in the Sinar Mas Land Plaza lobby in Jakarta. The jam session created a lively atmosphere, with the audience joining in to sing along and dance.
Tjipta UMKM Fair 5.0
Additionally, the 5th Tjipta UMKM Fair took place on October 3-4, 2023, in Zones 6-8 of Sinar Mas Land Plaza in Thamrin. Tjipta UMKM Fair 5.0 featured hundreds of food products, clothing, and handicrafts from various MSMEs supported by Sinar Mas from all over Indonesia.
During the event, APP Sinar Mas had the opportunity to showcase a variety of products from MSMEs supported by APP Sinar Mas, including food and beverages, as well as beautiful handmade crafts.
APP Sinar Mas' booth at Tjipta UMKM Fair 5.0 was made from recycled wooden crates, showcasing their commitment to sustainability, with assistance from UMKM CHIP Banten and CSR PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk – Serang Mill. APP Sinar Mas' booth received the Best Expo Tjipta UMKM Fair award.
APP's commitment to supporting MSMEs received recognition at the Tjipta UMKM Awards. Some of the award categories received by MSMEs supported by APP Sinar Mas included:

- Tjipta UMKM Award – Outstanding Category: Independent Business Farmers Group and Cipta Handicraft Innovation Product (CHIP)

These achievements reflect APP Sinar Mas' commitment to continually support MSMEs in various regions and operational fields.
Advancing Together to Build the Nation
Throughout 2023, Sinar Mas has dedicated itself to advancing the nation through various initiatives, embracing the spirit of #MajuBersama. To uplift MSMEs, Sinar Mas provides inclusive and sustainable support (inclusive closed loop). Last August, Sinar Mas hosted the UMKM Talk: Advancing Together Wiki Entrepreneurship webinar to share experiences with small and large business owners. In an effort to support MSMEs, Sinar Mas provided 7,200 Simas Perlindungan microinsurance policies for free to MSMEs and fishermen in Banyuwangi.
Several other initiatives and innovations have been undertaken in various fields, including the development of new and renewable energy from palm oil to conserve energy, the creation of BSD City as a smart city to enhance residents' quality of life by Sinar Mas Land, and the debut of Sinar Mas Digital Day as a showcase for digital transformation among Sinar Mas business pillars.
